Restorative dentistry has made great strides in the last 20 years, the emergence of adhesive systems and dental implants is undoubtedly what has changed the concept of Restorative Dentistry, and shown us new ways to achieve excellence when return the patient lost anatomy, function, aesthetics and comfort.

Dental implants are prostheses that are placed (implanted) in the mandibular or maxillary bone creating a solid foundation that can make both single tooth restorations, such as partial or total prosthesis, and work exactly like our natural teeth.

Implants are a titanium fasteners that are placed in the jawbone in order to replace the roots of missing teeth, allowing us to replace the natural fit for an artificial piece of equal or better functionality and esthetics.

What is osseointegration?

Osseointegration is a biophysical phenomenon that produces a molecular level binding of titanium to bone. That union is so strong that if we then separate the titanium bone would be impossible, so we could only remove the implant at the same time removing the surrounding bone. (more…)
