Sedation Dentistry or “sleep”

Dentistry during sleep, also called sedation dentistry is a term that refers to the use of anesthesia during dental treatment. Sedation is often used during dental procedures that require a large amount of processing time on the couch.

In addition, sedation is ideal for patients showing dental phobia or have difficulty controlling their movements (this includes children). Although the term “sleep dentistry” means that the patient is unconscious, generally this is not the case. (more…)
