How to take care of their oral health if it is cancer?

Saturday, August 28th, 2010

Oral healthIf someone is suffering from cancer, it is important to pursue methods of oral hygiene on a regular and thorough. This includes brushing and flossing floss two to three times a day. We must remember that when brushing teeth, use a toothbrush with soft or extra soft silk. If the bristle toothbrush is very hard, it is recommended to rinse under warm water for 15 seconds.

Also, when brushing your teeth, must use a mild toothpaste because if there is too much added flavor, it can irritate the mouth. If even a mild toothpaste irritates the mouth, rinse with salt water after brushing teeth.

To prevent periodontal disease, you should use antibacterial mouthwash, provided it does not contain alcohol. Because many mouthwashes sold in pharmacies do contain alcohol, it can either ask your pharmacist or dentist to help find a brand that contains no alcohol.

Finally, to pass the floss between the teeth is very important. When you undergo chemotherapy or radiotherapy, the mouth becomes dry because of the small amount of saliva. It has a greater chance of developing tooth decay and gum disease. That is why we should floss at least once a day.
