Many dentists say that chewing guminstead of preventing tooth decay after a meal may fight dental caries. This course has not otherwise contain sugar , it will create it. The gum works by stimulating the production of saliva and neutralize acids in the mouth that are used by bacteria to de-mineralize the teeth and initiate the formation of dental caries.

It is therefore recommended that chewing sugarless gum after a meal if it is not possible to brush your teeth. Dentists advise not chew more than 10-15 minutes since the long term, increased chewing gum can cause jaw problems. In addition, the chewing gum does not replace brushing and flossing, because it does not remove plaque around the teeth and gums.

Chewing gum should be used temporarily to clean teeth part if we did not have access to a toothbrush or dental floss. But it should never be considered as a replacement.

Blood clots and emboli (blood clot fragments carried by the bloodstream) are dangerous. Two major classes of drugs used to prevent: antiplatelets, and anticoagulants.

Antiplatelet drugs such as acetylsalicylic acid or ASA (usually taken at low doses) prevents platelets (small blood cells) from sticking together and forming clots in areas where normal blood flow is interrupted, especially around the lipid deposits in diseased coronary arteries.

Anticoagulants such as heparin or warfarin inhibit certain blood clotting factors and may oppose the formation of blood clots or prevent an existing clot breaks free and does not interrupt blood flow to vital organs.

The fibrinolytic form a third class of drugs against blood clots. They are usually administered in hospital to lyse existing clots, such as those that cause myocardial infarction in a coronary artery obliterating.

Examples of anti-platelet: aspirin, ticlopidine, tirofiban.

Examples of anticoagulants: heparin, warfarin.

Examples of fibrinolytics: Reteplase, tenecteplase.

If someone is suffering from cancer, it is important to pursue methods of oral hygiene on a regular and thorough. This includes brushing and flossing floss two to three times a day. We must remember that when brushing teeth, use a toothbrush with soft or extra soft silk. If the bristle toothbrush is very hard, it is recommended to rinse under warm water for 15 seconds.

Also, when brushing your teeth, must use a mild toothpaste because if there is too much added flavor, it can irritate the mouth. If even a mild toothpaste irritates the mouth, rinse with salt water after brushing teeth.

To prevent periodontal disease, you should use antibacterial mouthwash, provided it does not contain alcohol. Because many mouthwashes sold in pharmacies do contain alcohol, it can either ask your pharmacist or dentist to help find a brand that contains no alcohol.

Finally, to pass the floss between the teeth is very important. When you undergo chemotherapy or radiotherapy, the mouth becomes dry because of the small amount of saliva. It has a greater chance of developing tooth decay and gum disease. That is why we should floss at least once a day.

Can a tooth abscess can really break a tooth? Of course, if the abscess remains there for long! A dental abscess is a native of a tooth is caused by a high caries has reached the pulp chamber. When the abscess is big and painful, it is very likely that the decay is also enormous, compromising the integrity and strength of the tooth. If decay is not treated, the tooth can break at a point that no treatment can restore it and must be extracted. If the fracture is not too large, the tooth can be restored by a root canal and a crown.

An abscess can also start with a gum infection and not the tooth itself. In this case, periodontal disease should be treated to remove the abscess. The daily oral hygiene, including brushing and flossing are very important to prevent gum disease.

An abscess is an infection, and that it originates from the gums or teeth, it’s a bad thing to have in your mouth because bad bacteria can enter the human body and reach other organs. This may complicate certain diseases such as diabetes and diseases caridiovasculaires.

Depending on the size of the abscess, usually before any treatment, medication should be taken antibiotics to control infection. But it must be remembered that the effect of antibiotics is only temporary and a permanent cure must be done.

This type of decay is very aggressive and it affects the primary teeth, especially those who are front and top. The decay of the early years is if a child’s teeth are exposed for long periods of time to liquid containing sugar. These liquids include fruit juice, soft drinks and even milk.

It was called baby bottle tooth decay before because the front teeth from a baby bottle rot when containing milk or other sweet liquid was left long and often in his mouth.

It is recommended not to leave a bottle in the mouth of a baby for more than 10 minutes, if the bottle contains milk or any sweet liquid. If the bottle must remain longer in the baby’s mouth, it should contain only pure water.

If there was a lot of dental problems like tooth decay, infection or gum disease, is that it can affect health in general? Well the answer is yes.

The dental health and physical health are closely linked. The mouth should be considered an open door to all sorts of infections that can eventually reach other organs of the body. Most dental problems are caused by bacteria and other harmful microorganisms. These microbes can cause tooth decay, gum disease, and abscesses.

If these dental problems are not supported, the oral microbes that are harmful can enter the bloodstream and spread to other places. There is evidence that some systemic diseases such as diabetes and heart disease may be caused or complicated by such oral infections.

It is a condition that has multiple causes, and it is sometimes possible to treat it, or at least make the situation more comfortable. Saliva is important to keep your mouth moist and clean teeth. It neutralizes the acids produced by plaque and gets rid of dead skin cells that accumulate on the gums, cheeks and tongue. Saliva also prevents infection by reducing the number of bacteria and fungi in the mouth. And for Nutrition, saliva helps to digest food, making them soft.

There are some problems that may arise from xerostomia:

* The risk of gum disease increases when the mouth is dry;
* The risk of cavities also increases because saliva limits the growth of bacteria is a partial cleaning of food debris and plaque;
* Saliva dripping improves the ability to swallow food and, in addition, the enzymes in saliva help digest food; xerostomia therefore compromises the diet because it reduces the ability to appreciate and digest food ;
* Have a dry mouth can also make it difficult to wear dentures (dentures and partials) because contact with the gums would be painful when they are dry.

Having a dental abscess can be very unpleasant if not painful. An abscess is an infection that has reached either a tooth or the gum around a tooth. People realize they have an abscess when they begin to feel pain, although an abscess may develop for weeks without really having trouble. Therefore, the main symptom is severe pain in the mouth, which comes from the infected tooth, but can also be spread across the side of the face.

Other symptoms may also indicate whether an abscessed tooth is about to occur:

* The gums become red and swollen, with swelling around the tooth;
* Chew food becomes painful when the infected tooth is in contact with food or with other teeth;
* An infection can cause fever, which leads to general fatigue and even headaches;
* After the swelling has occurred, the pus may come out of the abscess and drain into the mouth. This could have a bad taste, and it is recommended to spit out the mouth instead of swallowing it, but the pain is generally calm after the pus.

Tooth loss is an unhealthy condition and many people believe it is something inevitable when older. The truth is that we need not lose his teeth if we take good care to know all his life. The teeth help to savor the food and eat to maintain health.

By understanding the reasons why people could lose their teeth, it is possible to give attention to all of his oral health to keep their teeth healthy for life. Here are the main causes of tooth loss:

* Poor oral hygiene increases the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. Dentists advise brushing your teeth after every meal, or at least twice a day and spend the floss at least once a day. It is also recommended to consult your dentist every six months for a routine check and a dental cleaning.
* A poor diet can destroy the teeth. Foods that contain lots of sugar and acids damage the teeth and gums. These regimes initiate decay.
* Bad habits such as tooth grinding (bruxism) use their teeth over the years and make them shorter. People who grind intensely could even break teeth. Smoking may worsen gum disease, which leads to tooth loss.
* If children are playing contact sports such as football, hockey, basketball and martial arts, they should wear a mouth guard to prevent injuries that could break a tooth or teeth.
* Some people have an extreme fear of dentists and did not consult, even if they suffer from severe pain. Do not see a dentist for a problem in his mouth could aggravate the situation over time and eventually lead to tooth loss.
* Some people can not afford dental care. But not everything is done by dentists is too expensive. Sometimes there are alternative treatments that are less expensive and it should ask his dentist. Remember that prevention costs less than repairing problems.

A cavity is comparable to an infection. It consists of harmful microbes that use sugar to alter the tooth. Over time, this will form a small hole in the tooth, and if not repaired with a filling (filling), the decay will continue to grow.

If decay is not treated, it can possibly ruin a good portion of the tooth. This could make it difficult to repair by conventional sealing. If a large portion of the tooth is destroyed, only crown can restore it.

If micro-organisms of decay reaches the pulp chamber, where the nerves and blood vessels are located, the pulp becomes irritated and infected. This can eventually lead to the formation of a dental abscess can cause much pain. Only a root canal can then repair a tooth whose pulp is infected, and a crown will probably be needed later as final restoration.

There are also situations where a tooth is so destroyed by caries that nothing can be done to fix it, not even a root canal or a crown. In this case, the tooth has unfortunately need to be extracted.
