It’s simple. The tooth or teeth that are to receive a facet are lowered slightly on the front, on the order of 0.3-0.5 mm. After preparation takes a very precise measurement with silicone, which will be sent to the laboratory technicians draw up a facet by modern injection or cast porcelain.

After the veneer, it performs the fit test, and if it is valid we proceed to put the veneer with a special adhesive. The whole process lasts a few days.

Not all patients need treatment with porcelain fronts. Cases of severe crowding or defects in the relationship of the dental arches may contraindicate this treatment. It is also not recommended in patients with bruxism (”grind” their teeth).

dental veneersWhat is a veneer? Why use them?

These thin sheets of porcelain, from about 0.3 to 1 mm. thick, veneers are placed covering the entire front surface of teeth. They bind tightly to the tooth using a special adhesive. The bond is so strong that once in place can not be removed unless they break the veneer.

They are used primarily to mask color anomalies of the teeth that can not be treated by conventional bleaching. They are also used to mask changes in the size or shape of teeth, giving the tooth a more ideal.

Its main advantages are its power of adhesion, abrasion resistance and great aesthetic sense. Practically not be reduced to place the tooth. Once cemented, the patient can eat normally. Many personalities from public life and media make use of this technique to get an attractive smile. (more…)
